About us

The network bringing together food logistics, local expertise and supply chain responsibility

We are cold chain professionals committed to transport at the right temperature, protecting the quality, safety and integrity of food products throughout every stage of distribution.

We are more than a logistics provider. We are a coordinated network built to create greater value across food distribution and meet the needs of producers, distributors, large-scale retailers, traditional trade and Ho.Re.Ca. operators.

At DIF, distribution is not simply about moving goods. It means managing every product with the right level of care, safety and consistency throughout its journey.

ROADMAP

From Fresh to Food: the evolution of the network

2013

Distribuzione Italiana Freschi is established

DIF was founded as Distribuzione Italiana Freschi, a network specialising in the distribution of packaged fresh food products at controlled temperatures between 0°C and +4°C. The project brought together experienced companies with strong local roots and specialist expertise in food logistics.
2014

The network vision expands

DIF continued to develop within the strategic vision of the Torello Group, combining local expertise with central coordination. The network began to organise its operations through shared flows, tools, information and standards, strengthening service continuity and operational quality.
2021

From Fresh to Food

DIF evolved from Distribuzione Italiana Freschi to Distribuzione Italiana Food, expanding its scope to the entire food & beverage sector. Alongside temperature-controlled logistics, the network introduced solutions for dry food products, ambient-temperature transport and multichannel distribution.
2026

The integration of Coldline

With the integration of the Coldline network, DIF strengthened its presence in temperature-controlled food logistics and expanded its geographical coverage. Today, DIF coordinates hubs, transit points and local network partners within a system built on shared standards, controlled processes and digital tools, protecting products, the supply chain and consumers.
BRAND PURPOSE

Eating well is not a privilege. It is a right.

Maintaining the right temperature, preventing mixed loads, ensuring transparency throughout the logistics process and preserving product integrity all contribute to protecting food quality and strengthening people’s trust.

Mission

We protect food throughout the distribution cycle

DIF’s mission is to bring logistics and production together within a responsible and transparent network, coordinating the collection and distribution of food products across Italy and Europe according to high standards of protection, safety and traceability.

Every day, we work to preserve food integrity, enhance the value of the work carried out by producers and provide the market with a distribution system that is more efficient, controlled and consistent with the specific characteristics of food products.

For us, every stage matters: collection, transit, reloading and last-mile delivery. These are the critical steps that determine whether a product reaches its destination exactly as it was intended, produced and entrusted to the supply chain.

Our commitment

Every food product deserves the same level of care.

A premium product and an entry-level product should both reach their destination in the best possible condition, with their organoleptic and nutritional properties preserved.

This is why we bring production and logistics together within a single responsible system built on three non-negotiable pillars.

Controlled temperature

We promote transport at the right temperature because every food product deserves to reach its destination in the best possible condition. Temperature is not merely a technical parameter. It is one of the key factors protecting product quality, safety and original characteristics.

No mixed loads

At DIF, food products are transported with the utmost attention to their integrity. We do not allow mixed loads because we believe food must be transported under conditions consistent with its value and with the trust placed in the supply chain by both producers and consumers.

Transparency at every stage

The quality of distribution also depends on the quality of information. This is why we use digital tools, traceability systems, operational evidence, PODs, KPIs and shared procedures to make every stage of the supply chain clearer, more visible and more controlled.
The Network Model

Together with producers. Together with transport operators.

DIF brings together two sectors that need to work in increasingly close coordination: food production and logistics.

On one side are food & beverage companies, which entrust the network with the value of their products. On the other are specialist food transport companies, which join DIF as network partners and contribute every day to the operation of the network.

Our role is to connect these areas of expertise within a shared system built on common standards, procedures, tools and responsibilities.

Governance

The people leading DIF.

Expertise, vision and responsibility serving the network.

RESPONSIBILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY

More efficient distribution also protects the supply chain.

At DIF, sustainability is not simply a statement. It is a practical way of organising distribution more effectively. Operating as a network means rationalising flows, optimising routes, improving load utilisation and reducing logistics waste.

A more coordinated network enables better use of infrastructure, vehicles, logistics platforms and expertise. This creates benefits for businesses, the supply chain and the environment. But DIF’s responsibility also extends to products and people.

Protecting food means respecting those who produce it, transport it, distribute it and consume it.

PROTECTING THE PRODUCT PROTECTING THOSE WHO CONSUME IT.

Choosing DIF means relying on a network specialised in food & beverage distribution, built to protect the value of food products throughout the entire supply chain.
