The logistics landscape is ready for an important change with the announcement of the partnership between DIF Network, Torello and GTS. This collaboration promises to redefine the concept of efficiency and sustainability in transport, creating an unprecedented synergy between the world of road and rail.

“The food chain is a strategic sector for Italy, with an annual turnover of around 600 billion euros, i.e. 31% of the national GDP. These are numbers that invite us to always do better – enthusiastically claims Umberto Torello, Chief Executive of DIF and COO Gruppo Torello. Our DIF Network has long been a leading player in the distribution chain, not only in Italy but also internationally. Therefore, the agreement with GTS is strategic, the integration with iron will ensure even more sustainable transport, traceability, and correct temperature management.

Innovation that connects.

Our alliance is not just a fusion of forces, but an innovation that connects people, goods and destinations. Through advanced technologies and intelligent solutions, we aim to make transport not only efficient, but also connected and shared:

  • 7 thousand units that will strengthen the cold chain.
  • 38 locomotives
  • over 3 thousand containers
  • 650 railway wagons
  • more than 300 thousand m2 for storage, of which +15 thousand dedicated to controlled temperatures served by a varied road fleet of over 3,900 units.

Alessio Muciaccia, CEO of GTS also declares: “In this delicate moment, the road- rail method is the way to guarantee the entire distribution process, from the producer to the consumer. And doing so in a sustainable and safe way is the key to looking at the long term with peace of mind. Thanks to Torello, we can now integrate the temperature-controlled food transport service and give our customers greater support.

Boundless efficiency for food & beverage

The integration of skills and resources between DIF Network, Torello and GTS opens the doors to unprecedented efficiency: DIF will have the task of collecting and distributing food production in Italy, even that which comes from abroad thanks to the railway partner. GTS, which by the first half of 2024 will upgrade the Verona-Bari route from 3 to 6 circulations per week, will take care of rail transport from southern Italy to northern Europe and vice versa and Torello will be the support for full load international transport by road and warehouse logistics operator thanks to its many storage sites. The flexibility of road transport combines with the speed and loading capacity of rail transport, shaping a synergistic system capable of facing the dynamic needs of the market.

In conclusion, the partnership between DIF Network, Gruppo Torello and GTS promises to redefine the future of European food transport. An opportunity to embrace innovation, sustainability, and efficiency in a single symphony of progress.
